Using WireGuard on iOS

Introduction

iPhone and iPad use the official WireGuard app with a VPN Safe config from the Client Area. There is no separate VPN Safe iOS app in the current downloads — import a .conf file (or QR code) and toggle the tunnel on.

App: WireGuard on the App Store
Configs: Client Area > your VPN service > pick a city > WireGuard config or QR.

Install WireGuard

  1. On the iPhone or iPad, install WireGuard from the App Store (developer: WireGuard).
  2. Open it once so iOS can prompt for VPN permission later.

Import a VPN Safe config

From a file (Mail, Files, or iCloud):

  1. On a computer, download the WireGuard config from the Client Area and send it to the phone (AirDrop, iCloud Drive, or email).
  2. On the phone, open the WireGuard app > + / Add a tunnel.
  3. Tap Create from file or archive and select the .conf file.
  4. Tap Allow when iOS asks to add VPN configurations. Enter the device passcode if asked.

From a QR code (easiest):

  1. On a computer, open the Client Area WireGuard page so the QR code is on screen.
  2. On the iPhone, WireGuard > Add a tunnel > Create from QR code.
  3. Point the camera at the QR code. The tunnel appears with a name like acc465234913-London-1-10GB.

Connect

  1. In WireGuard, tap the switch next to the tunnel so it turns green.
  2. The iOS status bar shows a VPN icon.
  3. Open Safari and visit vpnsafe.net/whats-my-ip. The IP should be the VPN Safe server, not your mobile carrier.

To disconnect, tap the same switch off. Generate a separate config (or QR) for each device — reusing one key on iPhone and iPad at the same time will drop the other session. Paid plans allow 6 devices.
