Importing a WireGuard Config on Android (Official App)
Introduction
If you prefer the official WireGuard Android app to the VPN Safe Android app, import a Client Area config. The Play Store listing is WireGuard (package com.wireguard.android). The usual method is to scan the QR code from the Client Area.
Play Store: WireGuard for Android
Configs / QR: Client Area > VPN service > server location.
Scan the QR code
- Install WireGuard from Play Store (or sideload if you have no Play Services).
- On a computer, log into the Client Area, open your VPN service, pick a city, and display the WireGuard QR code.
- On the phone, open WireGuard > + > Scan from QR code.
- Allow camera permission and scan the code.
- Allow WireGuard to create a VPN connection when Android asks.
- Tap the switch on the new tunnel to connect. The name looks like
acc465234913-London-1-10GB.
Import a .conf file instead
- Download the config to the phone (email, Drive, or USB).
- WireGuard > + > Import from file or archive and select the
.conf. - Activate the tunnel.
Check vpnsafe.net/whats-my-ip. For kill switch, split tunneling, Stealth Mode, and a server list inside one app, use the VPN Safe Android app instead of this official client.
One QR / config per device. Scanning the same code onto two phones will knock the first one offline.
