Importing OpenVPN Configs on Android
Introduction
On Android you can either use protocol OpenVPN UDP / TCP inside the VPN Safe app, or import our .ovpn files into official OpenVPN Connect. This article is the official app.
Play Store: OpenVPN Connect
Zips: vpnsafe.net/downloads/openvpn-udp.zip / vpnsafe.net/downloads/openvpn-tcp.zip
Import and connect
- Install OpenVPN Connect from Play Store.
- Download a zip on the phone and unpack it (Files app, or unzip in Drive).
- Open OpenVPN Connect > + > File and pick a city
.ovpn. - Enter your VPN Safe username and password when the profile asks.
- Allow the Android VPN permission.
- Toggle the profile on. The key icon appears in the status bar.
Confirm the IP at vpnsafe.net/whats-my-ip. To change city, import another .ovpn and switch profiles. For a server list, kill switch chip, and split tunneling, the VPN Safe Android app is simpler than managing dozens of files.
