Which OpenVPN File Should I Import?

Introduction

The two zip packs are full server lists. Each filename is a city. You import one file per profile, not the whole zip as a single tunnel.

vpnsafe.net/downloads/openvpn-udp.zip — proto udp, port 1194, faster.
vpnsafe.net/downloads/openvpn-tcp.zip — TCP, same cities, for filtered networks.

How filenames map

  • 10gb-ireland-dublin1.ovpn — 10 Gbit Dublin.
  • 10gb-unitedkingdom-london1.ovpn — 10 Gbit London.
  • 10gb-germany-frankfurt.ovpn, 10gb-belgium-brussels1.ovpn, 10gb-switzerland-zurich.ovpn, 10gb-portugal-lisbon1.ovpn — other 10 Gbit cities.
  • belgium-malinois1.ovpn — standard Malinois node (NO P2P in the app list).
  • australia-sydney1.ovpn, brazil-saopaulo1.ovpn, africa-johannesburg1.ovpn — regional nodes.

What to pick

  1. Unzip UDP first.
  2. Import the city you actually need (UK for iPlayer, a nearby 10gb node for speed).
  3. Connect. If the handshake never starts, import the same city from the TCP zip.
  4. Username/password are always the VPN Safe account, stored in the profile, not inside the .ovpn file.

The VPN Safe Windows / Android / TV apps do not need these zips — they pick protocol and city in Settings. Use the zips for OpenVPN Connect, Linux, routers, and anything that wants a file.
